Step 1:
Remove the side grill bolts. We will be using the existing side grill bolts to hold the Tender Port in place. Very carefully remove these bolts and set them aside.
NOTE: If you accidently drop one of these bolts, you may have to remove the entire sill/exhaust cover to get them back.
Step 2:
Run & connect the adapter cable. If you already have a tender adapter wire installed, you can skip to step 3. If you are using the supplied 3DCBL adapter, route the wire under the PCM harness/bundle keeping the molded plug near the grill area. Run the red lead under the brake master cylinder and up toward the engine compartment fuse box. The back of the fuse box has the positive feed wire. Uncover the fuse box using the latch at the rear. Remove the 10mm nut on for the positive terminal and place the positive o-ring (red terminal) lead on it. Replace and tighten the nut. Replace the fuse box cover. The negative (black terminal) is the ground and that runs looped back towards the frame bolt near the hood release. Carefully remove the 10mm nut on the bolt, place the negative o-ring terminal. Replace and tighten the nut.
NOTE: If you accidently drop the 10mm nut for the ground, you may have to remove the entire sill/exhaust cover to get it back.
Step 3:
Assemble the Tender Port. Place the SAE 2 Pin port on the wire into the molded tender port. It does not matter which orientation you choose. Place the cover of the tender port over the SAE 2 Pin connector making certain the stud is on the side where the cable protrudes. Place the four stainless steel screws into the cover and tighten down with a #1 Phillips head screw driver. You only need to snug the cover down to the base. Do not overtighten the screws or you will strip the port base.
Step 4:
Position the Tender Port. The Tender Port is held in place with the two factory bolts you removed in Step 1. Position the Tender Port so the exposed plug is oriented towards the back of the car towards the grill. Align the port holes with the two threaded holes that hold the grill in place and carefully place the bolts back in place. Tighten the down. Hand tight is fine as these are simply holding the plastic grill and port in place.
